Dermal Fillers

Charlotte, NC

Dermal fillers are a great option to achieve your beauty goals that work differently than neurotoxins. Treatment with dermal fillers has become increasingly popular, driven by the usage from celebrities and influencers.

Dermal fillers are made from a few different substances (such as a gel composed of hyaluronic acid) that when injected seek to improve facial structure by adding volume or reducing wrinkles in the skin, cheeks, or lips.

What are uses for dermal filler?

The most common benefits provided by the usage of fillers are:

  • Restoring age related volume loss throughout the face
  • Adding lift and contour in the cheeks
  • Adding volume or shape to the lips
  • Reducing deep wrinkles and creases

Keep in mind, dermal fillers are not a permanent solution, although they do last for significant periods of time. Once the life of the filler runs out the effects will dissipate and additional procedures will need to be done for cosmetic goal maintenance.

Dermal fillers can help to stave off certain effects of aging. This means that you can fight off long term effects through strategically placed filler treatments. Additionally, dermal fillers can be injected strategically to bring back contour and volume to areas of the face that begin to lose tissue as a normal part of the aging process.

Our licensed and skilled medical providers at Plumped can help you analyze your facial goals and determine which filler is the right fit for you. All of this can be discussed in an initial consultation.

How is dermal filler injection performed?

The procedure for dermal filler treatment is fairly simple. Mapping is done first in order to locate and mark injection sites. This will ensure precision for the injections.

Pre-injection cleaning will follow the mapping step, and injection sites will be cleaned. During this step your expert may determine that a numbing agent is necessary.

Each injection is followed by a brief evaluation to confirm that everything is in order before moving on to the next injection. This process is repeated until all injections are completed. This could take anywhere from 15 minutes to over an hour, depending on the number of injection sites.

Your expert will finish with a post-injection cleaning and final verification. Markings will be removed and you will be ready to head home.

What is dermal filler recovery?

Discomfort levels should be very minimal and recovery time should be short. After your procedure you may want to use an ice pack during the next 24 hours if you are feeling discomfort.

It is also wise to refrain from any intense physical activity for 48 hours following the treatment to avoid any movement of the dermal filler. Also, refrain from touching and rubbing the injection site areas for the same reason.

Some common post procedure side effects are:

  • Bleeding
  • Bruising
  • Tenderness in the area of injection
  • Lumps, bumps, and unevenness while the dermal filler is integrating into the tissue and the areas of injection are healing
